After graduating from Detroit College of Law and passing the bar exam (State Bar of Michigan) in 1996, Thomas went to work for Brian Lavan and Associates handling divorce and family law cases.
In 2007 Thomas opened his own firm, the Law Office of Thomas M. Spackey PLC, in Brighton, Michigan to practice Family Law and help clients work through the divorce process, custody situations, estate planning, wills and all aspects of family law.

Family Law, Litigation
- Handling Divorce, Separate Maintenance and Annulment cases from start to finish, including property settlement and division of retirement benefits and what you can expect to receive. There are special circumstances where property may be considered separate and not part of the marital estate, I can assist you with that as well.
- Custody and Parenting Time consultations. I can explain the different types of custody and different parenting time schedules that may be most appropriate for your particular case.
- Spousal Support. I can help you to understand what the court will find important in making a determination on how much spousal support a person will have to pay or should receive.
- Calculating Child Support for initial support orders, reviews or modifications.
- Conducting Discovery, the formal process of gathering information, to prepare a case for Mediation, Evidentiary Hearings, Trial or settlement.
- Mediations, both serving as a Mediator and taking clients to Mediation. Together we will prepare you and your case for success at mediation.
- Post Judgment Enforcement. You have a Judgment of Divorce and you need to have your ex-spouse follow it and do what they are supposed to do. I can help you with that.
- Paternity. If paternity of a child is an issue, I can assist in informing you of your rights and responsibilities.
